A Roleplay Free Company

Florette

One community · two homes · every door unlocked

A library, a lounge, and a home in the Lavender Beds — where two venues and one warm Discord share a single open door. Come as you are; there is a seat here already kept for you.

A community first and a venue second: unhurried, SFW in public, and just as warm to a first-day sprout as to a seasoned veteran. The Athenaeum keeps the mind; the Solarium keeps the heart — and the Free Company keeps you.

The Athenaeum & The Solarium

Two doors open from the same garden path. Choose the one that calls to you — or, in true Florette fashion, walk through both.

The Athenaeum and the Solarium are not so much two places as two hours of the same home. One estate, one garden path, one set of hands keeping both — and two doors that ask something a little different of you depending on the light.

By day, the Athenaeum keeps its lamps warm and its shelves open: a library and salon for reading, tea, and unhurried conversation. By evening, the Solarium draws the glass close and lights the candles: a lounge for low music, softer light, and the kind of company you keep near. What one fills, the other lets rest.

They share a roster, a Discord, and a single roof — so most who call the Florette home drift freely between them. A book borrowed in the afternoon; a chair by candlelight that same night. Step into whichever calls to you below.

Community Rules

One community. Two homes. Every door unlocked.

An out-of-character code of conduct, held with care. These rules exist to keep the Florette a safe, warm, and genuinely welcoming place. They apply to every member — visitor, associate, FC member, and staff alike — across every space where our community gathers. They are not a warning; they are an expectation.

01
The Foundation
Respect & Inclusion

Every person here is entitled to be treated with basic dignity. This is the floor, not the ceiling.

1.1

Treat every member with respect and dignity, always — regardless of character level, RP experience, membership tier, playtime, or how long they have been part of this community.

1.2

Discrimination in any form is not tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, ableism, classism, xenophobia, and discrimination based on religion, age, neurodivergence, or body.

1.3

Harassment is grounds for immediate removal. This includes targeted mockery, unsolicited repeated contact after being asked to stop, intimidation, sustained negative attention, and coordinated behaviour meant to make someone feel unwelcome.

1.4

Slurs and derogatory language have no place here. This applies equally in “joking” contexts — if the language is harmful when meant seriously, it is harmful as a joke.

1.5

The Florette is an explicitly LGBTQ+-inclusive community. Any behaviour — direct hostility, coded language, or sustained exclusion — that targets or marginalises members for their identity is a serious violation.

1.6

Disagreements happen; meet them in good faith. Approach them with respect for the person, even when you disagree with their position. Critique ideas, not people.

1.7

Be mindful of differences in communication, language, and culture. Not everyone expresses themselves the same way. Assume good intent before assuming offence.

02
Boundaries & Wellbeing
Content & Safety

The Florette is safe-for-work in every space, always — there is no corner of it where that changes.

2.1

The Florette is SFW everywhere, without exception. The estate and its events, every Discord channel, both Carrds, and every private corner are safe-for-work. There are no designated NSFW spaces here, and there never will be.

2.2

There is no NSFW content at the Florette. Sexual content, and graphic real-world violence, gore, or deeply disturbing material, have no place in any of our spaces. This is not about finding the right channel — there is no right channel.

2.3

Keep conversation SFW as well. If talk begins to drift into NSFW territory — in character or out — steer it back or take it elsewhere. The Florette is simply not the place for it.

2.4

Our partners are held to the same public line. We may affiliate with venues whose wider themes run adult, but only where their public-facing presence is itself SFW. The Florette itself stays fully SFW, always.

2.5

This is still an adults-only community (18+). We ask for grown hands for the care and maturity these spaces take — not because anything explicit happens here. Do not confirm, encourage, or facilitate the participation of minors; if you learn someone under 18 has joined, notify staff immediately.

2.6

Use content warnings for heavy material. Even SFW topics can land hard — a brief “cw: [topic]” before difficult subject matter takes two seconds and matters.

2.7

When fiction starts to sound real, pause. If a scene begins to mirror genuine distress — someone’s safety, mental health, or real-world situation — it is always right to step out of character and check in.

2.8

Treat mental-health topics with care. Do not use serious conditions, self-harm, or crisis scenarios as casual narrative shorthand or for shock effect without meaningful purpose.

✿ Safe Messaging Principle

If someone expresses genuine distress — in or out of character — the right response is always to reach toward them, not away. You are not their therapist, but you can be a person who notices. Staff are here for guidance on handling difficult situations.

03
In the Story
Roleplay Conduct

What happens in the narrative is shaped by the people writing it. How we treat each other in the story is part of how we treat each other.

3.1

IC is not OOC. Your character’s feelings about another character do not define the relationship between the players behind them. Keep the separation clear and speak up OOC when it starts to blur.

3.2

Consent is required for heavy scenes. Any RP involving violence, harm, non-consensual themes, significant trauma, or deeply personal subject matter is agreed OOC before the scene begins — not after.

3.3

No godmodding or power-playing. You do not control another character’s actions, reactions, or outcomes without the explicit permission of that character’s player.

3.4

Respect “no.” If a player declines a direction — however gently — that is final. Do not push, reframe the request, or apply pressure. A “no” to the scene is not a “no” to the player.

3.5

Dark themes are welcome with consent. Difficult stories are permitted, but they require the OOC awareness and agreement of everyone involved. Say so clearly before you go there.

3.6

Do not bleed IC drama into OOC spaces without genuine reason. Character conflicts belong in the story. If a narrative is affecting your real wellbeing, that is an OOC conversation — with staff if needed.

3.7

At venue events, read the room. If RP is already in progress when you arrive, enter gracefully. Do not derail existing scenes; ask before inserting yourself into something mid-flow.

3.8

The safe word is “Brakes.” If anyone types or says it — in the scene, in DMs, in OOC brackets — all fiction stops immediately, no questions, no pressure. Check in with the person first.

⏸   Say “Brakes” at any time to pause a scene — no questions asked.   ⏸
04
Shared in Confidence
Privacy & Trust

We do not share what is shared with us in confidence. This is non-negotiable.

4.1

Do not share another member’s personal information — real name, location, images, workplace, or any identifying real-world detail — without their explicit, specific permission. This includes anything shared in apparent confidence.

4.2

Doxxing results in immediate, permanent removal. The deliberate sharing of someone’s private real-world information without consent has no appeal, regardless of intent.

4.3

Do not screenshot or share private messages without the consent of everyone involved — whether from another member, a staff member, or leadership.

4.4

What is shared with staff in confidence stays with staff. Reports, disclosures, and concerns brought to leadership are not shared with the wider community unless the situation requires it, handled with care.

4.5

You are not obligated to share personal information. Do not pressure others to disclose real-world details — age beyond the 18+ requirement, location, identity, or anything they have not offered freely.

4.6

Respect the line between player and character. Speculating aloud, repeatedly, about a player’s personal life from their RP content is not appropriate. People create fiction from many places.

05
How We Talk
Discord & Communication

Our Discord is the heart of the community between sessions. It should feel like a good room to be in.

5.1

Use channels for their intended purpose. Read channel descriptions and pins. If you are unsure where something belongs, ask in a general channel or check with staff.

5.2

Do not spam or flood. Excessive image posts, repeated messages, and reaction-spamming disrupt the community and bury conversations.

5.3

Do not excessively ping staff for non-urgent matters. Staff channels and report processes exist for a reason. Mass-pinging or repeatedly pinging individuals is treated as conduct.

5.4

No unsolicited advertising or recruitment without staff approval — other communities, FCs, services, or external content included. If you have something to share, ask staff first.

5.5

Passive-aggression is treated like direct hostility. Vague-posting about a person, subtweeting the server, or “hypothetical” framing used to target someone all fall under this rule.

5.6

English is the primary language of public channels so staff can moderate and all members can take part. Private conversations may be in any language. Language is never grounds for mockery.

5.7

When a discussion heats up, it is always fine to step away. You do not need the last word. No conversation in a server is worth your peace or someone else’s.

5.8

Keep bot commands to their designated channels. Cluttering general conversation with bot output or misplaced commands will be quietly redirected.

06
Leadership & Enforcement
Staff & Moderation

Staff exist to keep this community safe — not to police enjoyment. They are people too, and deserve the same respect as any member.

6.1

Treat all staff with the respect you extend to any member. A staff role is a responsibility, not a social hierarchy — it entitles no one to special deference, and no one to dismiss or demean them.

6.2

Disagree with a decision privately and calmly. Raise it with leadership — not in a public channel, not in someone’s DMs. Publicly disputing moderation is itself a conduct issue.

6.3

Do not circumvent or coordinate against moderation. If a decision feels genuinely wrong, the path is a private conversation with the FC owner.

6.4

Good-faith decisions are final at their level. Leadership decisions are final. Appeals, where available, are handled privately.

6.5

Concerns about a staff member’s conduct go directly to Aurore Laon (Owner) in a private message — not in shared channels, not to other staff. Concerns about leadership go to the FC owner privately.

6.6

Staff are bound by the same rules as everyone else. A staff role grants no special social licence. Staff who break these rules are held to the same — or a higher — standard.

07
Working Through Difficulty
Conflict Resolution

Problems are better handled quietly than loudly. Most things can be resolved before they become anything larger.

7.1

Try a good-faith, direct resolution first. If you have an issue with another member, make an honest effort to settle it privately before escalating — assuming it is safe and comfortable to do so.

7.2

If that is not possible, bring it to staff. When direct conversation is not safe or has already failed, staff will mediate and approach all parties with equal care.

7.3

No public call-outs. Do not post about conflict in shared channels to rally support or apply pressure — including vague references, “just asking” framing, and coalition-building group DMs.

7.4

Good faith is assumed in misunderstandings. People make mistakes; what matters is how they respond. If someone caused harm unintentionally and has owned it, we are not obligated to hold it against them forever.

7.5

If you feel unsafe, you do not owe the other party contact. Genuinely unsafe — not merely uncomfortable with disagreement. Come to staff first; your safety in this process matters as much as any resolution.

7.6

Mediated resolutions are private. Outcomes of moderation and conflict resolution are not shared with the community. If you learn of a decision involving another member, keep it to yourself.

08
Where These Rules Apply
Scope & Accountability

These rules exist wherever the Florette gathers — not only when staff are watching.

8.1

They apply everywhere we gather: all Florette Discord channels, the in-game estate and housing during any FC-affiliated event, and any public space where a member identifies as part of the Florette. Conduct does not end when you leave the Discord.

8.2

Outside spaces are generally out of jurisdiction — but behaviour elsewhere that directly targets our members, uses our identity to cause harm, or is a credible safety concern may be addressed here.

8.3

Associate status does not reduce accountability. Associates are held to the same standards as FC members. A lighter commitment does not change the expectations of conduct.

8.4

Do not bring external drama into the Florette. History with another FC or a conflict on another server does not belong in our spaces. Everyone starts here on equal footing.

8.5

We act on evidence, not rumour. We weigh documented evidence, credible reports, and patterns of behaviour. Bring concerns to staff with as much specific information as you can.

09
Enforcement
Consequences

We believe in proportionate responses. Most situations do not need the heaviest hand — but it is available when it is needed.

9.1

Consequences are based on evidence and the whole situation — not on who is more popular, who has been here longer, or who is louder. No particular outcome is guaranteed in advance.

9.2

Context is considered, but does not override harm. Good intentions, personal circumstances, and history are all weighed — none of them nullify what happened.

9.3

Staff may skip lower levels for serious violations. Any escalation framework is a guide, not a guarantee of gradual steps.

9.4

Associates follow the same framework as members. Associate status is not a lighter standard of accountability.

9.5

If you witness a violation, report it to staff via the appropriate channel or a direct message. Do not attempt to enforce the rules yourself.

Our Story

From a Cottage, a Home

The Florette did not begin as a guild, or a venue, or a plan. It began as a cottage — bought on a whim, filled with books along one wall and seats along another, and meant for no one but the woman who bought it.

For a while, that was all it was: a place of solitude. But Aurore found she did not want solitude to be the whole of it. She opened the doors, and the Athenaeum was born — a simple, small library, and for a long time nothing grander than that.

She kept it that way and learned the running of it as she went, never having known how to keep a business and making every mistake there was to make. There was heartache in it, too — betrayals from ordinary people who owed her no particular loyalty and offered none. She stayed anyway. The doors stayed open anyway.

It was not long before she opened the Solarium. She had come to understand that a mind needs somewhere to be free — unwatched, unaccounted for, spared the quiet exhaustion of always being noticed, always expected to think and to answer. The Athenaeum was where the mind was filled; the Solarium was where it was finally allowed to rest.

So she brought the two together beneath a single roof and called it one home. Little by little, people came. They lingered. They stayed. A company arrived and made of the place the guild it is now — and somewhere along the way, without anyone quite deciding it, the cottage had become a mansion.

A cottage became a library, the library a home, and the home a family — kept, as it always was, by the same steady hand.
✦ ☽ ✦

Today the Florette is a large and elegant estate, both venues held under the pride of a small, elegant dragoness — and tended, still, by the same woman who first filled a cottage with books and chairs. She makes a home of it for everyone who walks in, and asks for nothing back but the warmth they find they cannot help but return.

For one short season the sakura comes into bloom over the Lavender Beds, and the Florette moves outdoors to meet it. It is the gentlest night on the calendar: come to watch the blossoms, stay for the company, and mind that it never lasts as long as you want it to. Fully in character, and open to everyone.

Name a piece for the season and it’s played next, soft enough for the petals to keep falling through it.

Wintertide Soirée

The year has one last evening in it, and the Florette spends it by the hearth. Both houses draw in close as the cold settles over the Lavender Beds: the Solarium mulls its wine low and keeps the music warm, the Athenaeum reads the year back to whoever wants to hear it, and the fire is kept high enough for everyone. It is a quiet, grateful sort of night — a warm send-off into the cold, and a promise that the doors will be open again when the frost lifts. Come in from the weather; a seat is already kept.

By the Hearth

From the Solarium

  • The mulled pour, kept warm at the bar for the guest just in from the cold.
  • Slow music and slower company — the year, wound down to its last hour.
  • A toast in white velvet as the season turns over.

From the Athenaeum

  • The reading of the year — a few good things remembered aloud.
  • First-frost broth and warm golden crumble, served by the fire.
  • A quiet chair kept near the hearth for whoever needs it most.

The Year Remembered
kept by the House

Say one good thing from the year aloud, or write it for the fire. We keep the warm ones, and let the rest burn.

Hearthside Cards
dealt by a Fleur

A slow hand of cards by the fire, low stakes and warm drinks — the point is the company, not the winning.

First-Frost Fortunes
read by the Seer

Hear what the coming year might hold, told gently over the last of the mulled wine.

The Closing Set
by the Instrumentalist

The year’s last songs, taken by request — name the one you want to end it on.

Hallowtide · Oct 30–31

Snapdragon’s Eve

Once a year the Florette lets the shadows in. Over two nights the estate turns masked and a little eerie: a lantern-lit market on the eve of the 30th — odd little stalls, stranger wares, and drinks that glow the wrong colour — and then the evening proper on the 31st, all candle-smoke and spider-lily red. Names are set aside for the night; come behind a mask and answer to whatever you please. Fully in character, and open to anyone brave enough to knock.

Two Nights, One Mask

From the Solarium

  • The masked pour — served unnamed, its contents undisclosed. Trust the bar.
  • Spider-lily red across the floor: low light, lower music, and dancing behind masks.
  • A companion for the night who will keep your secrets and your alias both.

From the Athenaeum

  • A lantern-lit market of odd little wares on the eve of the 30th.
  • Ghost stories read low by candlelight for anyone who dares to sit close.
  • A quiet corner of the dark, kept for those who’d rather watch than be watched.

The Masked Market
kept by the House

Wander the lantern-lit stalls on the eve — odd wares, small dares, and a trinket or two worth taking home.

Guess the Face
by a Fleur

Everyone answers to an alias tonight. Name the face behind a mask and the bar owes you a pour; guess wrong and you owe a secret.

Candle Fortunes
read by the Seer

Watch how a candle gutters and hear what the dark makes of your year to come. Taken in fun, as ever.

Told in the Dark
by the Athenaeum

Gather close for a ghost story read by candlelight — bring one of your own if you can hold the room.
